Born as Moy Yit Kai in the Duen Fan village, in the district of Toi Shan, inside the Kwong Tung province, this man of seven instruments also signed as Moy Yat, Ah Yat, Moy Go Yan, Ngau GWU Chai Chu and Chu Tong Bing Heong . Although his mother, Ms. Moy Chan Bik Sheung, had given birth on June 27th during the year of the tiger at 1938, Moy Yat, believer in the auspiciousness of the number eight, always preferred to announce his birthday as June 28th.

Populace, at birth, he already had a brother, Moy Yat Jun, and a sister, Moy Mo Cheng.

The loss of his father, the painter Moy Chung Lan, that occurred during his youth, left Ms. Moy in a struggling situation, as she found herself responsible for raising her youngest son without a father figure.

Perhaps it is possible to say that this same loss also came to germinate, in the spirit of that young man, the seed of his desire to learn Kung Fu.

Four years after moving to Hong Kong, during 1953, he was introduced to the venerable Chung Si Ip Man by Moy Bing Wah, when he had the opportunity to start his learning of Wing Chun Kuen, which took place at the Mo Kwun at the Lee Uk Estate, one of the poorest and oldest housing estates in the city, where in addition to not having even basic levels of sanitation, the place was greatly restricted.

As a disciple, he could learn the art through the traditional transmission method that he would later call  "Kung fu life", having had the rare opportunity to share, for about 15 years, the daily life of his Si Fu, to the point of being considered by many his right arm.
He became, at the age of 24, in the direct line of descendants of the founder, the youngest of Ving Tsun Si Fu's legitimately recognized towards the tradition so far.
His career began in 1962, when he inaugurated the Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kin Hok Yuen (Moy Yat Ving Tsun health instituteat Mong Kok, Kowloon. On 1973, after the death of his Sifu during the previous year, he immigrated with his family to New York, where he founded two Mo Kwun's on different addresses: the first one, in Brooklyn, which he entitled as Ding Lek Mo Kwun, opened during the following year of his arrival to the city, in partnership with a colleague, Bak Hok Kuen Si fu, the other Mo Kwun began in 1979, in chinatown, primarily in the 2nd, and finally, on the 6th floor of the same building where it remains .
Maybe because he lead his teachings along the classic molds with extreme discretion, many came to believe that he, in fact, did not teach Ving Tsun. Obviously, the high level of masters that graduated under his tutelage, among which many are the greatest living authorities of the art, reveals precisely the opposite. The apparent pedagogical negligence was nothing but refined and subtle efficacy, a disguised manifestation of the highest degree of mastery, from which the outcome are expected to arise, but its author is not associated with them. This  is the  philosophy that best illustrates through expressions such as Kwong tak yuek bat juk "a broad view seems insufficient" or tai bak yeuk yuk, the "great candor seems outrageous."
On June 28th, 1997, announcing his retirement, on the feast of celebration of its 60 years, Moy Yat formally released his role as Si Fu, certain that was well fulfilled, after 35 years of accurate dedication.
Aside from allowing the continuity of the ancestral legacy for more generations, a task that now is proceeded by his disciples, he had his own name related to the highest quality of Ving Tsun: to associate Moy Yat with Ving Tsun means pure Ving Tsun.
Moy Yat also nurtured his writer side. The following books carry his signature: Suen Hak Yip Tam (scattered upon the seal carving), 108 Muk Yan Jong, Ngau Gwu Chai Yan Po (sigillography catalogue of "Ngau Gwun Chai," Ving Tsun Kuen Kuit, The Legend of Kung Fu Masters, Ving Tsun Trilogy, Dummy - A tool for Kung fu and Luk Dim Poon Kwan.

Besides the books, the Grand Master was also author of videotapes, especially about Ving Tsun. He began his work with a video produced by Moy Tung, in 1987: Stories of Zen.

A ele, se seguiram algumas dezenas de outros, dos quais são exemplos: Ving Tsun essencial,Moy Yat’s WorldWe are from the red boat, The lock, etc.

A dozens of others works followed after "Stories of Zen", such as: Ving Tsun essential, Moy Yat's World, We are from the red boat, The lock, etc..

The Mo Lan Go Sao, let his craftmanship extend to the field of the delicate arts. In which he never had a  formal teacher, having consecrated himself as self-taught. His main works are in the areas of painting, calligraphy and Sigillography.

Organizou, em 1974, o Mei Tung Su Wa Wui (associação de Pintura e Caligrafia do Leste Americano), onde ensinou Inscultura Sigilar. No ramo artístico, veio a atuar, ainda, junto ao The Museum of Natural History e a academy of chinese arts, ambas as instituições sediadas na cidade de Nova Iorque.

During 1974, he organized, the Mei Tung Su Wa Wui (Association of Painting and Calligraphy of the american East), where he taught seal carving.  In artistic branch, he came to operate along with The Museum of Natural History and the Chinese academy of arts, both institutions located in New York city.
His brilliance in painting can be seen through one of his creations, the well known Blush Strokes, abstract monochrome images of simple lines and erotic nature.
The work is unprecedented in Chinese art, in which the recurring themes have been, for centuries, human figures, religious motifs, landscapes, flowers, animals, insects and so on.
With seal carving, he took pleasure in exploring the different materials and their registration possibilities. Seeking to innovate, he put hard carving materials to the test such as ivory, jade and crystal. Furthermore, he dared to engrave seals with Western characters in order to allow an appreciation of the art by a large number of people.
The polymath also studied other cultural manifestations of their people, such as opera, music, poetry, literature, traditional medicine. His skills have always been widely recognized by his peers, that always highlighted his genius and versatility, even posthumously. And in 2002, for example, was prepared, in the Disciples Room Museum of Ip Man, in china, his brief bilingual biography (English / Chinese), mentioning him among the main followers of the last patriarch. In it, he was referred as owner of Ma Mo Seugn bing, "man and mo both pervasive". It is unfortunate that this text is not registered in English.
The owner of this opulent brain, which succeded on being an expert on many subjects, distant from each other, and all with proficiency, seriousness and devotion, left this world on January 23th, 2001 - the twenty-ninth day of the twelfth month, and the last days month, the year of the dragon - at his own residence in Queens. The burial occurred nineteen days later at the Kensico Cemetery, where the tombstone was fixed and where his followers will remember him, from time to time. His seat became empty, but his legacy endures through the books he wrote, the pictures he painted, the stamps that he graved, the masters he forged and, above all, through the enthusiasm instilled - and that still instills - in each one that fate chose - and they still choosing - to join his monumental work.
