Siu Lam JI - Kung Fu Quest

Siu Lam JI - Monastério Budista Siu Lam (shaolin)

Buddhist Monastery Siu Lam (Shaolin) is the name pointed to a time as the birthplace of Zen Buddhism and Kung Fu.
It’s name is a dual reference to the place in which it was established: Siu 少 indicates the topography of the region and abreviates the name Siu Sat Shan, Siu Sat Mountain, name of one of the component parts of Sung Mountain, which is located in the district of Dang Fung, Ho Nam province; Lam 林 refers to the surrounding vegetation meaning forest or woods. Ji 寺 it’s related to Fat ji, Buddhist Monastery.
Therefore, the translation of Siu Lam Ji would be Buddhist Monastery of the Mountain Siu Sat Forest.
The cited monastery, which still exists, was established in 495 AD to better accommodate the Indian monk Badra, known to the Chinese as Bat To.
After the monatery was founded, others were founded as well, homonyms in different regions of China.

Presented in China by RTHK channel, this series has become a great showcase showing the major styles of Kung Fu.
